The 2-year-old boy who was rescued from the Belleville Swimming Pool Thursday afternoon was released from the hospital on Friday

Ricquaan Brown had been held overnight at Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center in St. Louis, said the operator of his day care, Shantel Miller.

Lifeguard Emily Beintker, 21, of Belleville, performed CPR on Ricquaan after Heidi Johnson, 39, of Belleville, a former EMT had pulled the unconscious boy from the water.

Miller, who runs Pooh Bears, an East St. Louis day care, had taken Ricquaan to the Belleville municipal pool Thursday.

Miller said she and her stepdaughter were watching a group of children in the pool's shallow end. Miller said she got up to chase and play with the teenagers and could not see Ricquaan when she returned. Miller said she and others in her group searched for Ricquaan for about three minutes before he was found face down in the pool.
